Last Minute Date Ideas for Valentine's Day
As a work-from-home, homeschooling entrepreneur mom of three (that was a mouth full!), I understand all too well how difficult it can be to set apart time for special occasions. With the hustle and bustle of the new year, tax season and everyday responsibilities, holidays like Valentine's Day can really creep up on you fast without you even realizing it. If you're like me and haven't planned anything for your spouse or significant other, this post is for you!
Here are five last minute date ideas for Valentine's Day:
1. Prepare Dinner Together
Preparing dinner together is one of the more underrated date ideas out there. Cooking a meal with your spouse or significant other is a great way to learn more about each other, share culinary tips and bond through teamwork. You can use a recipe from Pinterest or another popular website; YouTube is a great place to find lessons or demos that can be easily followed. Bonus tip: go grocery shopping together to have more time together and learn about each other's food preferences.
2. Paint and Sip for Two
After choosing a tasty wine or your favorite adult beverage, head over to your local craft store and grab a few blank canvases, paint and paintbrushes to host your own sip and paint activity. If you or someone you know are unable to draw a stencil to paint on the canvases, you and your boo can freestyle your own painting. This is meant to be a fun experience, so be sure not to add any pressure!
3. Scavenger Hunt
Ok, this may be the least last minute of all the ideas listed here but you won't regret putting in the extra effort to create a fun scavenger hunt for your boo! Come up with about 3 to 5 clues to hide in various places that all lead up to a romantic dinner from your favorite restaurant. The clues can be from special moments throughout your relationship or things that your significant other would immediately pick up on. (You don't want them to be too hard to figure out!) Since restaurants in your area will likely be packed or no longer taking reservations, ordering your favorite meal to go and plating it at home could be a better option.
4. At-Home Concert
Remember the days of watching MTV Unplugged on the couch with friends and family? Those were the days! Having an at-home concert is a great way to bring a nostalgic vibe to your Valentine's Day festivities. If you and your honey are anything like us, we enjoy finding our favorite artists' live performances on YouTube or Apple Music and watching together while enjoying our favorite snacks and beverages.
5. Romantic Indoor Picnic
Indoor picnics are so easy and fun to do, I'd argue that they are the best for last minute date nights without compromising on the romance! Even better is that you probably have everything you need already at home. Blankets? Check. Pillows? Check. Candles? If not, we've got you! Finger foods? Check! If you want to be extra, download a list of questions to ask your significant other from Pinterest and use it as a conversation starter.
